The World Race!

The World Race

11 Months.

11 Countries.

September 2015.
I’M GOING ON THE WORLD RACE

The World Race is a 11 month mission trip, that journeys into 11 countries.
I will live in tight community with other racers on my squad, as we get to do this crazy life with each other for eleven months.

Ministry will look different in every county, as we do whatever is needed.
Ranging from construction, orphan care, teaching, evangelizing, prayer walking, door to door home visits, feeding the hungry, ministering to girls on the red light district, on and on it goes.

Overall, my ministry is to see the Kingdom of God come.

I launch in September, and I will be traveling to: Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!!!!!

I need your SUPPORT!
None of this will be possible without YOU!
As far as support goes, you can help support me in at least 3 ways:

1.  First and most importantly you can Pray!
Pray for my finances that Father would supply them quickly so that I don't have to worry about it while on the mission field. You can also begin praying that Daddy would prepare me mentally, physically, and spiritually. That Kingdom will come, and hearts will know Jesus.

2.  Tell other people. Word of Mouth will be one of the biggest ways you can help share my story and what Father is about to do.

3.  Lastly you can support me Financially. I need to raise $16,267. If you feel like Father is leading you to support me financially, please pray about it first!  Ask Him what exactly He wants you to give and how. If you feel as though He has said given you the green light after praying, then PLEASE GIVE! Every single dollar and cent will add up, so please do this according to His obedience.

A look back: Center for Global Actions. (first semester)

A look back: Center for Global Actions.
(first semester)

It’s seven days until Christmas. Tomorrow morning, I hop on a plane to take me nine hundred miles north. Today, I finish up on my work projects, say countless goodbyes, and praise the Lord for all of the amazing things that have taken place over the past four months here. Today wraps up my first semester at Center for Global Action (CGA).

My time here has flown by! It’s been rewarding, hard, painful, and some of the best times of my life. I’ve grown in more ways then I can count. I am pressed with new challenges daily to help me grow, and I welcome them, gladly. I live in a community of like minded believers, who are on fire for the Kingdom. As iron sharpens iron, we sharpen each other.

I was honored to be a part of  Worship Track. We dove into the heart of worship, and what a lifestyle of worship looks like. I had four amazing leaders, who are full of inspiring wisdom, knowledge and freedom. Through this course, I gained deep insight to the power worship brings, and the ways it’s able to literally change atmospheres, cities and nations.

They caught wind of my singing, and ran with it. They took the time to pour into me, and challenge me in such loving and honoring ways.  I’ve had the honor of helping lead worship down at our cities square, in local churches, in Pennsylvania, for our all staff Monday morning worships, and lead two hour sets, at our twelve hour burns. Then I had the incredible privilege of leading at the first ever     Beauty for Ashes Retreat, for teen girls.

I completed my two classes of  “Dangerous Jesus” and “Calling”.
With these, I had my mind blown weekly. The knowledge, wisdom, and power of the Holy Sprit that was present was insane.

In Dangerous Jesus, I learned of the radical way Jesus calls us to live, and what that looks like for me. I was challenged, pushed out of my comfort zone, and poured into. I learned what biblical discipleship looks like, and how to go out and disciple others myself, among so many other things. In Calling, I was given the tools to look back and dive into what the Lord has already put in place for my calling, that I was totally unaware of. I was coached and encouraged, and at the end of it all, I can confidently say that I know what the Lord’s calling on my life is.

I have worked in the department of “Short Term Missions” (STM) at Adventures in Missions. I have learned first hand all of the work that go into sending thousands of missionaries onto the field. I’ve gained real life skills, and grown in networking with other missionaries, and I get to influence thousands of people (literally) through my work with our social media marketing.

This season has been the start of my life in full time ministry, and I am so overjoyed that the Lord chooses to use me. My relationship with the Lord these past four months has been incredible. He’s leading me into a deeper intimacy with him, teaching me obedience, and showing me that no matter whats going on around me, all I need is to keep my eyes on Him.

It’s a humbling thing to be 100% support raised. It’s humbling knowing that I’m paying for groceries with money that the Lord has provided for me, through my amazing supporters. It brings about full dependence on Jesus, and a deeper faith then I could have ever imagined. But I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without those who support me, from what the Lord chooses to do through you. So, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your investments in eternal things. Because of you, the Kingdom of the living God is advancing. I truly think of you all as a part of this ministry team, and together, we are claiming souls, and taking territory for the Kingdom.

His Kingdom come, His will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven.

Merry Christmas, and an abundance of blessings to you and your families!

Much love,
-Brookie

I am only $3,200 dollars away from being fully funded! If you would like to donate to Adventures in Missions, on my behalf, check out all the ways you can give here: http://brookgelinas.blogspot.com/p/support-me.html

24 Hours alone in the Wilderness

24 Hours alone in the Wilderness.

Three days after arriving in Georgia, my alarm is buzzing. Its 5:30am. I don’t want to do to this. Do I really have to do this?

I roll out of my warm bed, and double check that I have all of my needed gear. Hiking boots? Check. Filled nalgene’s. Check. Sleeping bag, tent, rain gear, head lamp. Check, check, check and check. I know nothing of what my next four days will look like, expect,

“We will be hiking and tent camping out in the woods for 4 days. Be prepared for lots of walking and primitive living conditions.”

Fast forward to a few hours later, and I’m out on the trail, in the foothills of the appalachian mountains. I’ve been given a large bag of trail mix, and told to make it last. This is my lunch for the next few days. I’m already exhausted from all of the crazy hustle and bustle of the days leading up to this trip. I just moved across the country after all! But I know that this will be good for me. I know that I will be challenged. I know that this will be hard. But I’m ready. I pumped myself up with Lacre this morning! Lets do this! I tried to imagine the worst possible, and told myself that it couldn’t possibly be any worse then that!

I was wrong.

We hiked for ten grueling hours that day. It rained most of the morning, and I remained wet the rest of the day.  about eight hours in, I found myself hiking the trail alone. Caught somewhere between the front of the group and the back. My knee was flared up, killing me every time I moved it. My hips shot sharp pain through me every step. My thirty pound backpack seemed to weigh at least a hundred. My mind was racing with everything I had just left behind in Michigan. What was I doing here? What did I just get myself into?

“I am NOT going cry on the trail…I will NOT be that girl”… I probably cried for a good mile or so. And it wasn’t even because of my pain, or that fact that we still had a good, long ways to hike still. I can’t even explain it, but my mentors were right. There is just something about physical brokenness that brings about spiritual brokenness. Abba just totally wrecked me again. It seems he needs to do this with me on a regular basis.

“Make me to hear joy and gladness, let the bones which you have broken rejoice”
Psalm 51:8.

An hour and a half later, I was caught up with the rest of my team, and we were embarking on the last leg of our journey to our camp spot. The last leg proved to be the craziest yet. It was getting dark. We came to a small beach on the side of the river, and then the trail just ended. I faced the river, knowing behind be was nothing but a steep hill, with crazy thick trees, and vines. I looked hopelessly to Josh (Fellow CGA apprentice) for direction. “This way!” he exclaimed, as we carefully made up way up and along the hill. Over and under trees. Crawling on hands and knees at some points. It was dark now, and I couldn’t really see much of anything more then a few feet in front of me. “This is insane!” I said out loud laughing.

Finally we made it to our camp. Which was nothing more then A small clearing in the enchanted looking forest. We were next to the river, and I could hear the gentle rushing of the water. Thank you Jesus. We all slept under a tarp that night. But the next day, we started “Solo day”.  Twenty-four hours alone to be with Jesus. I strapped my pack back on and headed a little deeper into the woods. Set up my tent, and crawled inside. I really had no idea what I’d do with my entire day. I had my bible, journal, water bottle and trail mix. Thats it.

“Okay Jesus, what do you want to do together today?”

It was the most beautiful time with the father. I rested in him. I mourned things that needed to be mourned. I surrendered everything again. I waited upon him. He just loved on me in crazy ways. He infused new dreams into me. Gave me freedom where I had set unnecessary boundaries in place, that were not of him. Then he brought me, once again to Ephesians, chapter one. Read this next part slowly, taking it all in.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance his holy people, 19 and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

I just sat there and reread it. Over and over again. In such awe of who God is, and the unbelievable things that he’s done for us. The things that are available to us here and now! How often to we doubt ourselves, and fail to live out our full responsibilities, bringing the Kingdom here and now?? Jesus Christ, has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ!

Night eventually came, and with it the darkness. And rain. Lots of rain. The rain started coming into my tent. I was alone. I couldn’t sleep. My anxiety started rising. I cried out to Abba.

“ You can do nothing apart from me, beloved.”

“ You can do nothing apart from me, beloved.”

“ You can do nothing apart from me, beloved.”

Now I challenge you. What are you trying to do on your own strength? What is Abba asking you to surrender? What do you need to put down, in order to pick up?

Ask Abba. He longs for it.

My first two weeks in Georgia

My first two weeks in Georgia

Greetings from the land of sweet tea and peaches!

My first two weeks here have been a crazy ride! I had the amazing opportunity to drive down to Georgia with my mom. Bless her heart. If I wasn’t sleeping, I was talking. The whole way down. Going on and on, verbally processing all of my excitement. I moved into my new house. I explored my new city! I went on a crazy intense hiking trip for four days. (Still processing some things that happened there. Blog post on that coming soon!).

I met all of these awesome people who are just as crazy as I am! I went to the Japanese festival.   We had unbelievable times of worship, where the Holy Spirit just came and blew our socks off. People’s bodies were healed by just being in the room! I got wrecked some more. I got visions of just being drenched, like with water, but it was all the love of Jesus, all over me. Soaking into every conner of my body, spirit and soul. I’m entering into this new season with hands wide open, ready to receive all that Abba has for me.

My time here with CGA (Center for Global Action) is broken down into three main components: Apprenticeship, Discipleship, and Community.

I have been placed in the “Short term missions” department for my apprenticeship! This department of AIM (Adventures in missions) is responsible for any of our mission trips under a month long. I will be working here four half days per week!

I have a personal disciple-er, (is that a word? It is now). named Betty. Who is also my house mentor.! I am really excited to be able to live with her, as she is the most beautiful and amazing woman, set on fire for the Kingdom!

Speaking of my house, we call it “The Nest”.  I share it with four awesome women, Betty, Lacey, Kellie, and Tayo! We had our first family dinner last night! These women are awesome. I am so blessed.

Under both community and discipleship is my “Track” of study. I am in the “Worship track” Here one of their goals is to teach us how to cultivate a lifestyle of worship to our King. Our first gathering as a track was on Tuesday. We spend a gooooood long time laying hands on one another, praying awesome, big prayers, speaking words over each other. It was so life giving. There are no words to describe it.

Today we had our first classes. We’ll have two courses of study, and we’ll meet once a week. One of the classes I will be taking is all about discovering the calling of God in your life. We get one on one discipleship, along with some really, really awesome material to dig into. I cannot wait. Our other class is titled “Dangerous Jesus”. It’s challenging. It’s uncomfortable. It’s powerful. It’s truth. I’m pumped!

I’m still in need of $3,200 for my funding in order to be here. I’d ask if you’d  join my ministry team! In prayer first of all. I need lots. :) If your able to donate financially? Awesome! You're an answer to lots of prayer. To learn about all the different ways you can give, click here: Donations for Brook

I’m ready to grow.

To be stretched.

To be challenged.

To fail forward.

To dive fully into what the lord has for me here.

To step outside of my comfort zone… Way out.

I’m ready to dwell at the feet Jesus.

Get ready world. Cause here I come.
